Recognising future markets early is of crucial importance to both the business community and society, not only in light of our current crisis. However, growth markets also have to be developed and ‘landscaped’. A key characteristic of tomorrow’s markets is intelligent regulation or the cooperation of social stakeholders, policymakers, and business actors, respectively. In a generally tumultuous environment, social and economic transformation processes, new national and international challenges, as well as pioneering innovations increase the potential for disruptions. This is a challenge when structuring future markets. Furthermore, the key engine of growth for future markets is how they contribute to the solution of global challenges.

The latter are:

– anthropogenic climate change
– continued population growth
– structuring the future energy mix
– access to and allocation of resources
– the social issue of the just distribution of wealth
– citizens’ participation in political and economic decision-making, and
– designing and realising an intelligent regulation policy

Z_punkt surveyed experts from businesses and science institutions and social stakeholders and asked them to assess 12 future markets. The response rate was pleasantly high. In total, 255 participants assessed and commented on the markets regarding growth potential and contribution to solving global problems.
